The Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers is commonly referred to by the acronym RAEME, pronounced as 'ray-mee'. As the second largest Corps in the Australian Army, RAEME oversees the most extensive range of equipment in any Australian organization. To meet the demands of Army operations, it operates both mobile workshops on the battlefield and stationary workshops in support areas, offering repair and recovery services for all Army-operated equipment, including aircraft and watercraft. Soldiers in RAEME are called 'Craftsmen', who are responsible for repairing and maintaining a diverse array of equipment such as tanks, trucks, armored personnel carriers, helicopters, radios, radars, computers, artillery guns, and missile systems. The Corps offers a variety of trades, including vehicle mechanics, electronics technicians, aircraft technicians, and armament fitters.
