The author carried out 74 operational sorties as a bomb aimer with Bomber Command. his first tour was with 76 squadron flying Halifaxes from Linton on Ouse and then Holme in Yorkshire with multiple bomb runs on the Ruhre.
He was on the Peenemunde Raid and later on the major raid on Berlin. He was one of the 10% who were the lucky ones.
