Steichen traveled on the USS Lexington, was on Iwo Jima.

 

Edward Steichen's Naval Aviation Photograhic Unit during World War II, documenting activities of aircraft carriers, FDR's death, release of American prisoners-of-war at war's end, and the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri. Included are more than 200 photos made by Steichen and his men, along with text on the work of the unit.
