This is a story of courage and endurance. Arthur Shephard had just turned 24 when his depleted battalion was placed in the path of the Japanese Army as it drove down throgh Malaya in early 1942. Incredibly, the Australian force stopped the Japanese but only temporarily. This is Arthur's story. He survived in the jungle for three-and-a-half-years,constantly on the run, fighting battles against the Japanese and against starvation and a succession of deadly diseases, which claimed his companions one-by-one. It is also a true story having been based on his recordings and his diaries.
