Machine Gunners- A History of Six Machine Gun Battalions (2007) By John Campbell

Six Machine-Gun Battalion was raised in New South Wales and sent to the coast for training pending deployment to New Guinea. Finally their war came and they found themselves at Gusap defending an American airstrip against the Japanese. As the war moved north the unit was sent home, disbanded and the members dispersed as reinforcements across a wide range of units.

Covers the formation of the battalion, training in Dapto camp, the Bass Point tragedy, service in New Guinea including the Ramu Valley and patrols in the Finisterre Range and disbandment. Also has a chapter devoted to the Association. Lots of photos. Also includes honour roll, nominal roll and lots of photos of the battalion groups.
