The British government sanctioned Anson's naval expedition to capture the Spanish Acapulo galleon and its treasure. These logs, letters and documents were discovered in Saumarez's manor in the Channel islands.
 
Still a fascinating account of the journal kept by Captain Philip Saumarez (1710-1747) on board the flagship CENTURION between 1740 and 1744. The treasure captured during this expedition produced the largest amount of prize money in naval history.
