In early 1964 Australia's contribution to the 'confrontation' between Indonesia and the fledgling Malaysian nation set sail for Borneo. Part of this contribution was the construction of an airfield at Kuamut on the Kinabatangan River, a very inhospitable and inaccessible place in the middle of the Borneo jungle. A first-hand account interwoven with many reminiscences of the diggers involved.
