Diary Of World War II North Queensland (Update) (2011) CD-ROM

A Gordonvale man, Peter Nielsen, has published a new book titled "DIARY OF WWII NORTH QUEENSLAND (UPDATE)".

This massive reference book of almost 1,500 pages is much too large for a normal printed book, and so he has published it in PDF format on a CD-Rom.

He goes on to say that this CD-Book has been a labour of love for the past twenty six years with almost annual research pilgrimages from Far North Queensland to the Australian War Memorial, Australian Archives and Naval History Section.

Research began in 1985 in the Townsville region, and continued in the Far North Queensland from 1990 and is still ongoing.

The works chronologically records every aspect of Allied Military "comings and goings", (land, sea & air), in North Queensland from 1939 to 1946 in an area from Mackay to Horn Island and west to Mount Isa.

It includes RAN, USN, MN, AIF, Militia, RAAF, USAAF, Women's Services plus Home Front units.

It records precisely, the movements of who, what, when and where troops, squadrons, ships etc berthed/ encamped/stationed/trained within North Queensland during those war years. When they arrived, (from where, and When they departed, (to where).

This document has been converted to PDF, (which has a Search function) and with the author's colour scheme, he has made it user friendly for researchers.

Peter Nielsen warns purchasers that though this CD-Book is encased in a very impressive DVD case, it is not a DVD, but a Data CD and can only be read by a computer.

He is also quick to point out that it cannot be downloaded from the Internet, and as such it cannot be classified as an E-Book.
